New Stuff!!!!

lindafebblogart.jpgjeaniefeb.jpgmaryblog.jpgvicki.jpgangieblog.jpgpam21.jpgjenniferblog.jpg

Wow, you know, it has been a busy couple of months. We have put a new design team in place, created new stamps, kits and transparent tags. Not to mention we had a wonderful time meeting new faces in Grapevine, Texas and Riverside, CA this month.

I want to take a few moments to share with everyone some of the wonderful, creative works of the Prickley Pear’s design team. Every time I get a package from them, it feels like Christmas. I hope to share their beautiful work with you often, as it often makes me speechless. All I can say… usually… when I see one of their works is… OMG.

Today, I am posting a couple of samples from each design team member. In order; Linda Black, Jeanie Sunderman, Mary Coleman, Vickie Parson, Angie Pearl, Pam Carriker and Jennifer Grego. I hope you enjoy their work as much as I do.

Girl with Pear Earring Painting

girl-with-pearl.jpg

I had so much fun stamping this image and turning it into a painting. I made these for christmas gifts this year. She has become one of my favorite new stamps. In the painting, I added wire and a bead to the earring itself. I just had to share her with everyone. Enjoy!

Another fun sample

butterfly-book-mark.jpg

Here is a quick and easy book mark we made using our snowflake butterfly stamp and snowflake butterfly clear tag. We colored the back of the tag using Shimmering Mist by Luminarte. The shimmer is a little hard to see with the scan. But it has a beautiful shimmer to the tag.

Another Beautiful Sample

jeweled-geisha.jpg

We had too much fun creating this stunning card. Below are instructions for how to create this card.

First we started with blue card stock trimmed to 5.5 by 8.5. Fold in half.

Next start with a panel of 4″ by 5″ watercolor paper. Tear the edges of the watercolor paper down to 4.25″ by 3.25″. Once torn we sprayed different colors of Shimmering Mist by Luminarte onto the paper.

Once watercolor paper is dry, stamp asian text onto surface with VersaFine black ink. We did not ink up our stamp between stamping the image onto surface. This allowed the ink to fade out between pressings.

Set aside, and stamp the Geisha Portrait onto watercolor paper. Paint with Twinklink H2O’s. Let dry and trim close to the image, leaving no border.

Wrap two pieces of 3″ brass wire into shapes as shown. Adding beads along the way. Attach the two pieces of wire with a jump ring. Layer and adhere to card face as show with E6000. Once Geisha image is dry, adhere to bottom right corner of painted panel as shown.

Thanks for looking! And happy stamping!

Fall Clock

This clock is a lot of fun to make and would be lovely on your desk at home or work.

clock-project2.jpg

Here are basic instructions for this project.

1. Using the back side of a cd, be sure that the surface is clean from fingerprints.
2. Dab alcohol inks onto felt that is adhered by a velcro block. I used rust, and butterscotch from the Tim Holtz collection. Daub the entire surface of the cd. This will give a really nice marble look to the cd.
3. One tan (2.25 by 5″) and one brown to (2.5 by 5″) Adhere tan onto brown cardstock leaving a 1/4″ border on both sides. Place on top of cd. Use cd as guide and trim away the excess from the top and bottom of paper.
4. Stamp Maple Leaf Background onto tan cardstock. Paint with Twinkling H20′S, I used brown and pink. After the leaves are painted, I went over some areas of surface with pink and brown chalk to give extra dimension.
5. Next. Stamp the Maple Leaf background again onto watercolor paper. Using versafine black ink. (this ink is great for watercoloring, it will not bleed and you do not have to heat set). Once stamped, choose 8 leaves to paint in. Paint then cut out.
6. I added a layer of ultra thick embossing enamil to each leaf to give a dew drop effect to the leaves.
7. Layer the leaves to your stamped surface. You can use thin pop dots to give added dimension.
8. To finish the pane of leaves, embellish with pearl seed beads and other various beads that match. your color scheme. Once panel is complete you will need to cut a circle into center to allow for the clock piece to be assembled.
9. Last I coiled 6 pieces of 3″ copper wire into 3/4″ coils. I adhered to surface of clock face with E6000 and then placed a bead in the center of each coil. Using jewlery glue again.

Wow, these animals are beautiful…

mary-animals.jpg

Mary Boesel of WI, has done it again. These tags she has created using our latest animal stamps are simply stunning. We hope you will agree.

First, Mary stamped the animals and embossed onto the tags. She then stamped the animals on a separate sheet of paper and cut closely to the image creating a mask. She then layered her masks to the tags using repositionable tape. Once in place, she took out her stippling brushes and chose colors from her Adirondack ink pads. She stippled various colors to the tags. When she was done with that task, is when she really pulled out her skills and painted the animals and then free-hand painted the elements in the backgrounds of all three tags. All of the painting was done with watercolors, and the effects are simply stunning.

I hope you enjoy viewing these tags as much as I have!

Happy Stamping!
