More ATC Transparencies by Jean Sunderman

There is just something about ATC’s that I absolutely love. Maybe is because each one is so different from the next or because their tiny presentations give such pleasant surprises from them when trading them. I am always thrilled when I get ATC’s from my design team. They put thought into everything they do, but there is just something that is a little extra special when I get an ATC.

One of my favorite stamps is the Silhouette Cameo Girl and my favorite colors happen to be pink and brown. Big surprise there, as a lot of my own work uses just colors.

I was thrilled to get these little ATC’s in the mail from Design Team Member Jean Saunderman. She combined all of my favorite elements.

She knows how to create the perfect vintage feel. First she pulled coordinating brown and pink patterned papers. She aged them more by swiping brown ink across the surface of her paper. She then stamped the Swirls stamp with Sepia ink as shown.

She stamped the cameo girl with brown ink onto pink card stock and cut around the stamped image. She then layered it onto the ATC surface. She finished it off with burgundy flowers gold brads and a strand of pearls as shown.

For this next ATC, Jean pulled together 3 little stamps that work beautifully together. She grabbed a patterned paper with greens burgundies and cream colors. She then tore a swatch of this paper into the shape shown. She aged the paper by edging with brown ink. She then stamped the green card stock with the flower bouquet and versa mark ink. She rounded the corners and edged it with brown ink.

For continuity, she stamped the images with brown ink. And colored in with burgundy, cream and green chalks. She finished with a translucent pink ribbon, music note and soft pink flower as shown.

Another Beatuiful Transparency ATC by Vicki Parson

As promised last week, here is another fantastic sample you can do with our new line of ATC transparencies. Vicki did such a beautiful job with this we just had to share. I love the earth tone colors in this piece.

Here is what she did:

The main image is an actual fauna postage stamps that she had collected.

For the base of her ATC she used rubbing alcohol and reinkers on glossy card stock. She then grabbed her transparency and onto the back side of the swirly transparency (the printed side), she added some gold Stickles in select areas, let it dry and placed it over her glossy background. She attached with brads. She then added the postage stamp and the partial sentiment as shown.

We have started to play with the new ATC transparency sheets we have developed. We now have the first of many beautiful samples that we will be sharing. They are so versatile to use. There are many applications you can apply to the back sides of the transparencies. Over the weeks to follow, we will show you many great techniques and uses for these stunning little designs.

Here is what we did:
Using red, and orange hues of Radiant Rains by Luminarte or Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angles we covered our watercolor paper surface. To dry the surface quickly, we pulled out our heat gun and ran over the painted surface.

Once dry, we cut out our transparency and adhered it to the surface of our watercolor background. You can adhere the transparency with a small amount of double sided stick tape. Be sure to put the tape on the black areas of the transparency, so you will not see the tape.

We just love the mood that this piece sets. Reminds us of lazy days of summer gone by.

Animal Safari Tags

There is an artist I know and have had the great pleasure to become very good friends with – Mary Boesel formally with Stamping Jazzy Style in WI. She can take any stamp, surface and basic supplies and make a masterpiece. She is passionate about her art, is always thinking outside the box and is always looking for new techniques to share. She is a true inspiration and has tought me much. I can’t even begin to go into all of the techniques she used to create these tags that feature the Prickley Pear line of Sketched Animals. But I wanted to give recognition to here beautiful art. Be on the look out for more beautiful works from Mary, as we have much to share.

Pebbles Chalk Background

My standards are high when using chalks for my projects. Before I was intruduced to the beautiful blending qualities of Pebbles Chalks, and the ease of which the go onto the paper, I would ONLY use artist quality chalks. And if anyone has ever invested in artist quality chalks – you know how expensive they can be. This morning I decided to pull out my Pebbles Basic Brights. My purpose was to build a background surface on which I could stamp using my Versa Fine Watermark ink. I LOVE the technique that you can achieve using these two products and stamps.

Here is what I did.

1. I started with a panel 2.5 by 3.5. Pulling some favorite colors of mine, I applied small amounts of color with the chalks to my surface (regular white card stock) as shown. I blended over the colors with different colors.

2. Once I was happy with the surface I then pulled out my Funky Floral Background and VersaMark Watermark Ink. I covered my stamp thoroughly with the ink. I then stamped the image to the left side of the panel. Once the image is stamped, I pulled out a clean tissue and gently rubbed over the stamped image. The ink pulled the color of the chalks out and gave me a beautiful watermarked image.

3. Onto shrink plastic, I stamped “You make me smile” with black Stays-On ink. I shrunk according to the manufacturers instructions. I then placed the charm to the center of 2 prima flowers and adhered to the ATC face.

4. To add a little something more to the ATC, I added pearls to the center of the flowers. This is a fun little ATC that is quick and easy to make and is great for sharing with friends.

Our Transparent Tags have always been a hit when we show people all of the many fun and awesome products you can use with them. We decided that since ATC’s are all the rage, that we would come out with some REALLY FUN ATC sized transparencies. We have two new sheets of them to show off. They can be found in our store under the Transparencies Tab, each sheet contains 8 beautifully illustrated images that are collaged from the Prickley Pear line of stamps.
